AUGUST 8TH, 2024

I took almost 2 weeks off. Partly due to ongoing stiffness with my achilles and several days of life just getting in the way.

  • Mobility and stretch warmup
  • General Endurance: 3.5km jog in 19:20 (27:40 5km pace)

Having been more than 3 weeks since my last long run it wasn't surpising that I found this kind of difficult. The plan was to get in an easy 4km. I went out too fast passing 2.5km in about 13:15. Once I realized the quick early pace I eased off. My head was starting to swim a little bit around 3.5km so I called the run done.

Achilles (left) a little sore afterwards. I need to lose weight!

AUGUST 9TH, 2024

  • Mobility and stretch warmup
  • General Endurance: 5.0km jog in 26:51

I set out at a more reasonable split midway of around 14 minutes. I was feeling good at that point and came home at a good sub 13 minute pace. I was not shattered by the run in any way. I ended feeling strong, like I could go longer. Both achilles handled the run fine. That weird upper right hamstring twisting feeling came on a couple of times. I eased off the pace for a bit and it resolved.

AUGUST 13TH, 2024

  • Mobility and Stretch Warmup
  • General Endurance: 3.8km in 20:12 (26:50 5km pace)

The last couple of days, my achilles felt too sore for running. They warmed up well today and posed no problems with my run. I set out with a quick 13:15 at the half way point adding surges here and there. Kind of ran out of gas and motivation at the end and didn't proceed onto 5km. I'm better off starting off more slowly in the beginning, unless I am literally attempting a p.b. run. And that wasn't in the plan today.

AUGUST 14TH, 2024

  • Mobility and Stretch Warmup
  • General Endurance: 5.0km in 27:10

I wasn't in the mood to run this morning but forced myself to commit to a very slow 5km light jog. The problem is I naturally keep speeding up once I'm warmed up. I corrected myself multiple times, adjusting my pace downward. The end result was a sporty little time that I felt comfortable doing. I split around 13:50 at half. Both my achilles handled the run fine.

AUGUST 15TH, 2024

  • Mobility and stretch warmup
  • General Endurance: 7.5km in 42:20 (almost 2 minute pb since last attempt in April)

I set off at a very easy pace as I intended to try to go a little further today. I was feeling still pretty fresh after 5km and decided to proceed on the third loop to 7.5km. Nice slow long run actually felt quite nice.
