MAY 22ND, 2024
I took the last few days off to try to get my hamstring more fully healed - also my achilles. I introduced a new training element today and needed to be fresh as possible. It is called Split Runs, more commonly known as interval training. The goal is to do all the reps at your goal 400m pace. For me this would obviously be 15 seconds each.
- mobility, stretch, 1km jog, 3 progressive tempo warmup
- SPLIT RUNS: 6 x 100m, rest 60 seconds between. First three reps were all around 15.5 seconds, then a couple low 16's. I experienced fatigue and lactate in the arms especially on the last rep and it was 17.
MAY 23RD, 2024
My right knee got a little stiff yesterday but I woke up and it was fine. Achilles not too bad so I decided to do my recovery tempo workout as planned.
- mobility, stretch, 1km jog, 2 tempo warmup
- TEMPO: 2 x 6 x 100m, 19-20 seconds each, rest 30 reps / 90 sets
Certainly was breathing hard by the last couple of reps but I think I've adapted to this workout now.
MAY 24TH, 2024
- mobility and stretch warm up
- WALK: 30 minutes brisk
Both achilles a bit stiff and achey this morning but they responded well to warm up and walking. Hopeful I can return to the split runs tomorrow.
MAY 25TH, MAY 26TH, 2024
No training due to a lower back injury sustained during non athletic activity. It will probably do me good to have a number of days of just warming up, stretching and walking. It will allow my hamstring to fully heal, which it never has and give me ever present achilles problems a chance to rest.
