- mobility, stretch warm up
- General Endurance: 5.0 km jog in 28:39
It wasn't particularly difficult to complete. I can tell I'm getting a bit overweight and out of shape. The main goal was to get it finished without aggravating either achilles tendon, and no trouble from that right hamstring. My achilles handled the jog fine, hamstring majority just fine. I just felt it tighten a couple of times. As I progressed through the run, I naturally felt myself starting to speed up and that is when the tightness would start up. Easing the pace back down to a Dempster Shuffle solved the problem.
I will be pleased if I can just string a few of these slow long runs together. Even if only every 2nd day. Get my weight back under control and maintain my base fitness level.

- mobility and stretch warm up
- General Endurance: 3.8 km in 19:35 (25:45 5km pace)
This is the first morning I had to deal with high heat and humidity. I set off on a really nice pace. It felt so good to be able to open up my stride without that hamstring twisting up. At the 2.5 km mark I clocked 12:55, on p.b. pace. But not being in the best condition I couldn't handle the fast opening lap. In combination with the mounting hot feeling by nearly 4km my head was getting a bit spinney. I stopped there. I'll take this as a small victory. Just to be able to stride normally again.
JULY 11TH, 2024
- mobility and stretch warm up
- General Endurance: 4.0 km in 21:45 (27:10 5km pace)
It was already 21 degrees and humid at 5:30am so I set off at a bit more even pace then yesterday, with the 4 km target in mind. My achilles both probably could have used that day off between runs and my stride didn't feel as free as yesterday.
The heat was just so much more than I'm used to and after stopping it felt like I was surrounded by a wall of heat. I have to be careful with one of the medications I take, as it can cause problems with overheating. Hamstring felt okay, right achilles seems mostly resolved but the usual problematic left achilles was a little sore afterwards.
